Before he launched his own magazine, he was the copywriter for Esquire magazine. He left the job because they denied raising the salary by $5.00. Then in 1953, he borrowed $8,000 from investors, $1,000 from mother, $600 of his money and a mortgage to start his Playboy magazine.

A Year Before his Death, He Didn't Own Any Real Estates
In contrary to the renowned belief, Hugh did not own any physical assets practically before his death.
As per the reports, he had sold his Playboy Mansion for $100 million to his neighbour. However, he did not receive any money for the sales as he had given his company equity along with the mansion to the firm in 2011 under a certain condition.
Well, the condition was that, he would be allowed to live in the mansion as long as he lives for measly $100 an year. Also, he would get $1 million as his annual salary.
He Was an Active Philanthropist
