Kiyosaki’s Business: Its Rise And Fall

Prior to his successful career as a businessman, Robert served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a helicopter gunship pilot during the Vietnam War in 1972. For his outstanding bravery, he was awarded an Air Medal.

Robert was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in June 1974. He then worked for Xerox as a sales associate until June 1978.

In 1977, Robert started his own company called ‘Rippers’ which brought nylon and Velcro surfer wallets to the market. His products were featured in Gentleman’s Quarterly, Success Magazine, Runner’s World, Newsweek, and Playboy. However, the company eventually went bankrupt.

He then started a retail business that made T-shirts, wallets, bags, and hats for heavy metal rock bands. Unfortunately, the company went bankrupt in 1980.

In 1985, he co-founded the Excellerated Learning Institute which was a business education company teaching entrepreneurship, social responsibility, and investing. Robert sold the company in 1994.

In 1992, Robert published his first book titled “If You Want To Be Rich and Happy, Don’t Go To School”.
